Luis Miguel Ramis: "In the second half, we played better and got ourselves back into the game, but there was an incident that did not allow us to keep building momentum"
Forwards Ante Budimir and Raúl García scored for Los Rojillos
Club Atlético Osasuna (2-2-4, 8 points) lost to Real Betis Balompié (6-1-1, 19 points) 5-2 at La Cartuja on Sunday afternoon. Goals from forwards Ante Budimir and Raúl couldn't overcome midfielder Isco’s two goals, along with goals from defender Diego Llorente and forwards Abde and José Morante.
Real Betis controlled possession early, and in the ninth minute, Isco scored the opening goal from the penalty spot. Osasuna nearly equalized less than 10 minutes later with shots from Raúl and Budimir, but failed to find the back of the net. In the 31st minute, Abde scored the match's second goal.
Three minutes into the second half, Llorente extended the home side's lead from a set piece. Osasuna pulled one back shortly after Betis’s third goal, with Budimir scoring. In the 54th minute, Raúl made it 3-2 to put the game within reach. Real Betis extended their lead when Isco scored after midfielder Rubén García argued for a foul by defender Natan, the last Betis defender. However, neither the referee nor VAR determined it was a foul, and the goal stood. In stoppage time, Morante capped the scoring.
Osasuna will prepare to face Real Racing Club on Sunday, Oct. 18, at El Sadar in Week 9 of LaLiga EA Sports. Kickoff is set for 2 p.m. CET (1 p.m. BST/8 a.m. ET).
Minutes: 98min.
